analysis and solutions of low voltage ride through of power plant auxiliary machines

abstract--recently, power plant and design institutes prefer vfd technology at auxiliary machines which has advantages on soft-start, vvvf, optimized design and economic operation. but most vfds work well in the rated voltage with the range of 10% above and 15% below. voltage sag and momentary interruption and voltage swell will cause the trip of vfds. and if the vd of critical loads such as coal feeder trips it will cause mft acts and the generator will stop running. if more than one large generators stop running at the same time then it will challenge the third line of power system protection and even large scale of interruption and cause a threaten to grid's safety problems. against the poor ability of low voltage ride through of power plant auxiliary machines, this paper proposes some solutions from the dc power support technology and practical application verified the effectiveness and feasibility of the solutions and the reliability of power supply is greatly improved.
